According to multiple online reports, controversial investigative journalist and social media personality, Kemi Olunloyo, who has been languishing in a Port Harcourt prison for some months now, has been finally released.

Recall that the daughter of former governor of Oyo State, Victor Omololu Olunloyo, was remanded in prison for purportedly publishing materials believed to have defamed an influential cleric, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, of the Salvation Ministries in Port Harcourt.

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, had in April granted the embattled journalist, N1million bail following the bail application of her counsel, Fatai. O. Lawal.

The trial Judge, Justice H.I.O Shamah, who delivered ruling, had said the Court exercised discretionary power and, also, because the offence for which she was arraigned was bailable.

It was gathered that Kemi had been in prison after she was granted bail because of her alleged inability to fulfill her bail conditions, but Kemi accused the chief registrar attached to the Port Harcourt Division of the Federal High Court of sitting on her case to keep her perpetually behind bars, despite having allegedly met her bail conditions.
